Everything I Own

As an international student, being a minimalist is almost necessary. Most students at my school have the luxury of being able to take their summer clothes home in the winter and winter clothes home in the summer. I’m able to fit all of my clothes into the little closet provided . Because I have to store everything in the summer, I made it my goal this year to be able to fit all of my dorm stuff (bedsheets and decorations) into one suitcase. I even got rid of almost everything in my bedroom at home; leaving only basic furniture, a memory bin, and a clarinet. Everything else I own is in my dorm room. That includes:

  • Clothes, shoes, and one purse (We’ll write separate posts about capsule wardrobes)
  • A wallet
  • Backpack
  • Laptop, cellphone, kindle, and headphones
  • Comforter, mattress cover, and pillow
  • A round chair with a blanket and throw pillow
  • Bedside table
  • A few decorations (tapestry, dream catcher, wall hanging, cute little Buddha statues, string lights, and a cactus)
  • A shower caddy (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and a razor)
  • Toothbrush, toothpaste, and a face wash
  • small makeup bag with makeup (People have way too much makeup!)
  • Three perfumes (using them up, then just repurchasing one)
  • Hair straightener, blow dryer, and tangle teaser
  • Three towels
  • A bin of snacks
  • Laundry detergent and lysol wipes
  • A cup with pencils
  • A folder with school papers (I try to do all my schoolwork on my laptop)
  • Two suitcases (One to take home, one to put my dorm stuff in over the summer)

That’s it! That’s everything I own, and I’m still getting rid of what I can. We’re working on our dorm tours, expect those soon. xx
